Are We There Yet: Mystery (Part I)

Episode 7 of our podcast Awkward Asian Theologians, has dropped.

This is the first part of our two part series on the theme of mystery.

Now, given the size of the theme, we did not expect to cover every facet of this topic. That being said, Daniel and I had a crack at covering some major aspects.

We went back to first principles to look at some misconceptions of the faith, including some that I had been guilty of holding in the past. Key amongst these in the episode was the presumption of the faith as a system of thoughts, which imply that one could think one’s way to salvation.

In response to presumptions such as these, we referred to von Balthasar’s maxim that “only something endowed with mystery is worthy of love”. With this as a touchstone, we looked at some of the complexities of apprehending God, and the fragility of our own knowledge.

Episode 7, entitled Are We There Yet, is available on Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts.
